of freedom with the assistance from the dragonfly. Ants at top of the tree hold onto the branch with a technique which the artist calls "the force of expansion." If a light source were projected fromthe rear of the work, the piece would take on a totally different look. Each of Sheng-Shan Hsu’s works may take three to six months to complete.

(Situated in front of the artwork is a sterling silver name plate. The front contains the title of the work, names of the artists (father and son), and the year of the creation/copyright. Engraved on the reverse side are the birth places, signatures, and red fingerprints of both the artists and the place of creation. In the lower right corner of the name plate is a circular opening where a silver wire connects the name plate to the tree by its roots.)
