silver, special treated ants that have climbed to the very top of the tree. Some
have paused on the leaves of the flowers, and some have climbed to a taller
branch, hoping to take advantage of the resting dragonfly’s flight, so they might reach a place of freedom and equality. One fellow, grasping one of the dragonfly’s legs, dangles as the frightened dragonfly struggles. Other ants hide within clusters of flowers and can be discovered only through careful observation. With a magnifying glass, one can see delicate hairs on the ants ’stomachs and leg joints, and teeth, and thickened edges of their antennae. On the misty ground, an oversized leader secretly directs fellow workers toward the dragonfly where they might see an opportunity for escape to freedom. Two silver ants, higher on the hierarchy, with diamond studs reflecting their position, keep watch, without knowing that some of its fellow workers have already secretly flown to a place
